Oh wow, I love this. o.o The theme and the lyrics' role in it more than anything. Vincent looks so knightly here, like he's kneeling before the lady he has pledged himself to, and that's actually a big way that I see him. Actually this site here [link] does a fantastic job of peeking into that role of knight/lady in regards to Vincent and Lucrecia if you want to do a bit of reading. (That site's author did a great job with her essay-esque tribute, I think.)

I really ought to look into this Nightwish. I hear a lot about them and they did an instrumental song with Lacuna Coil that rests among my lengthy playlist, so I'm willing to bet I'd like them, too. Boy Sets Fire and VNV Nation are two other artists whose songs and lyrics tend to remind me of Vincent and Lucrecia often, too.

Lucrecia - This a collection of my favorite Lucrecia pieces that I have seen around DA, including several featuring her with Vincent.
Wasurenai - This is the title page of ~VictoriaValentine's doujinshi, which is more of a Vincent story than a VxL, but it is very lovely and does feature Lucrecia for a moment.

I chose to share these with you because you see beyond Lucrecia's less...admirable traits and have an appreciation for the complex relationship between the two characters, not because I'm mindlessly pushing them around the web. That relationship is one that has ceaselessly fascinated me for the past decade, as well as the complexity of Lucrecia's character in itself, and it seems too many Vincent fans only see "Lucrecia hurt Vincent--she's bad and mean" or simply want her out of their way.

Lucrecia reminds me of me;

She tried to keep those people she cared for from being hurt but her actions only cause them more pain, and she was never given a chance to redeem herself.

Why do they bash her?

Out of all of Square's character's she is truely the most human and realistic.


She made a few mistakes and was punished for eternity...


She reminds me of myself alot, her interest in science, she blames herself for things not her fault, she's afraid of what might go wrong, and she tries to save those around her by pushing them away, and by denying herself happiness.

I'm currently making an FMV for her, "Vivica" by Jack off Jill, cause i reminds me of her and of me.

because Lucrecia is beautiful, not just in the superficial physical way, but in her personality, but she refuses to believe that, and is instead made empty.

Her story REALLY made me hate Hojo even more >.<

Lucrecia is quite the complicated character, a good number of people who don't like to look past the surface of her character can only see the bad she did and never consider why she did it. Unfortunately, people are like that about more things than just characters. They want a scapegoat and characters like Lucrecia are perfect scapegoats.

Vincent and Lucy's relationship is treated badly by a good percentage of the fandom, even from those who've played Dirge of Cerberus. Some protray her as a witch-woman hungry for power, others just simplify her down to a sadistic bitch.

Lucrecia has had an undenyable part in the formation of Vincent's present character. I get the feeling that through his relationship and encounter with her he matured on a very deep level. But I also see Vincent as the last living relic of a bygone age, obviously in the time before Shinra got big, people lived in a simpler manner than how they do in the present day. Vincent was also obvously taught to respect women and has deeply-rooted morals. some of which may have been subverted by his Turk training, but they're still ever present.

When it comes right down to it, I see Vincent as a disgraced knight, he once fought for the things he believed in, but found the world doesn't share his noble cause and now wants nothing to do with the world. But the one thing that keeps him going is the love of his lady. Lucrecia is the Guinevere to his Lancelot, the Dulcinea to his Don Quxote, and definetly the Beatrice to his Dante.

THanks for the links, I'll have to check them out sometime. I'm not a VinceLucy fan per say, I just understand that you can't have Vincent without Lucrecia. Vincent can certainly be paired up with others in my mind, but you can never leave Lucy out of the equation.

She's my favorite character!
She's just like me... a scientist, who holds on tho her mistakes and never forgets them, pushes people away in an attempt to save them.
And honestly, she only made one mistake, and she was never given the chance to fix that mistake, like most people often are.
She's one of the few characters ever created in the world of video games who truely had a human pschye!

I would so do that skit with you o.o
